I have watched from the sidelines for a while now and I must say the
Rotary spitfire sounds awesome. It would be great to ride in one, But I
don't think I would want to build one. Right now My 1966 Mk2 spit is in
the first stages of a rebuild. I wont say restoration because there are
a few things I want to change. I would like to have an alternator
instead of a generator, and I would like to convert to negative ground,
but the power I would like to leave all original. Any Modifications that
I make will only be to make the car more reliable or more powerful. The
only reason i would like to change the electrics around would be to put
in a decent radio. As far as Im concerned if someone wants to hotrod a
car so be it. If they want to hotrod a spit, what better choice could
they make? Spit styling the power plant they want, Awesome! I know my
head turns for a spit, I don't even care about the power plant. If
someone sees me driving around in my spit and wants to blow my doors off
with a rospit, go for it. I personally would just like to see another
spit on the road. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and if you are
beholding the title so be it. There are so many bland cars on the road
these days Who cares what is under the hood? Even the purists must admit
( even if they don't like it) that if someone sees a modified Spit and
likes what they see, they might restore one to running condition. Who
could ask for anything more?
