The front bumper on the GT6 Mk1 was mounted about an
inch higher than that on the Spitfire. This was
achieved by making the outer bumper irons/supports
cranked upwards, as opposed to straight on the
Spitfire, and having a higher mounting hole on the
front of the bonnet hinge (late Mk2 Spitfires and GT6
Mk1's have two holes in the hinge front). Because of
this the design of the over-rider is different - i.e.
the bumper cutout is higher on the GT6, and the tab
that hooks over the hinge on the inside of the
over-rider is therefore lower.

Thus, GT6 ones will not fit a Spitfire, unless the
outer bumper irons are also from the GT6. As far as I
am aware, the over-riders for the Spitfire Mk1/2 are
not available, but the ones for the GT6 Mk1 are.
Rimmers GT6 catalogue lists the Spitfire part numbers
for the over-riders, but they are infact the GT6
over-riders. John Kippings have also made the same
mistake. Whoever got the sample to get the
remanufacturing got their part numbers mixed up I
think!
