Not really Laura, it's more likely the tendency for an early Spitfire,
Specifically MK3 and earlier vehicles, when pushed at fairly high speed
into a turn, and the throttle suddenly let off, the car will do an
immediate 180 deg (or usually more [is that a REALLY severe case of
oversteer :}?]) turn instead of just a slight oversteering condition.  Very
disconcerting if your not expecting it ;-) 
I used to be able to fishtail, but with the Quafie, is not that easy
anymore -
