Greg, I am not sure if this will help you, but on my 76 Spitfire 1500, I use an
off the shelf filter. AC PF53 or Autozones Deutsch D364. I also can use the
following from a cross reference chart.
Walmart   WF-335
Fram       PF-3614
Motorcraft FL-793
Purolator  PER-241

With these, I have not had to use any special adapter.
