Finally, everything is squared away with the insurance after the Ford F350
backed into my 64 Spitfire and crushed the bonnet. I got a new bonnet from
Spitbits, its a for a Mk3 but other than the grill and turns signals its
identical. Spitbits has the parts to modify it back to a Mk1 but I'm going
to leave it this way for now. I have the turn signals but I need a grill
for the Mk3, so if anyone has a good one they can part with let me know. I
installed it this weekend and it seems to fit well, spotwelds and build
quality are not quite as good as the original but its not too bad. They said
it was mostly made from the original toolings.
Also I'm going to repaint the whole car. I want to paint it the British
Racing Green. I know it was not offer in 64 but so what, I like it. Does
anyone know the paint code for BRG? Are there different shades of BRG? I've
seen different cars with different shades of green and I've been told by the
owners that the paint was BRG.
