The difference in fuel prices on either side of the pond has been discussed
countless times before, but just to remind you how lucky you really are,
regular 95 octane unleaded is GBP 0.69 / litre locally to me. This equals
GBP 3.13 for a proper gallon or GBP 2.51 for one of your cut-down ones. At
current rates this is USD 3.61 a US GALLON. Most of this outrageous price
is tax. Don't forget that the UK is an oil producing country with still
large reserves under the North Sea, so it's not that we are importing loads
of the stuff.
