Oh yes, and the cleaning.  Never used anything more than car shampoo on
mine, but it was only a couple of years old when I got the car, 5 years old
now.  Chances are it is vinyl, which is the cheapest option (and the most
correct, for those sticklers for originality).

If yours has faded, how about Back To Black (from any Halfords or car
accessories place)?  It's designed for faded black bumpers, so I don't see
why it shouldn't work as well on faded black hoods.  Not that I've tried it
myself!

Have fun - I waited 5 months for my first-ever top-down drive (apart from
the test drive), so I can appreciate your frustration and eagerness!!  And
wrap up warmly (this time of year I find it incomprehensible that I drive
Daffy in T-shirt and shorts in the summer).
