Well, you *could* do this, but it will look incredibly tacky and be the
source of embarassment for not only you but all Triumph owners
everywhere. I kid you not.
House carpeting has a heavy backing that will not form compound curves.
You'd have to cut slits in a piece to make it fit around curved areas and
try to either sew or glue the edges back together. Might even use carpet
tape. Edging will be possible, and you'll need an industrial sewing
machine to do it. They aren't cheap though- easily several hundred dollars
for the lowest end model. Heel pads can be made from either rubber
mudflaps or even rubber floor mats that would otherwise be on top of the
carpet.
The answer is yes, you could do it, but it will cost you a lot of cash,
time, effort and end up with a job that looks like you spent $10
total. There's no way to make house carpet look good in a vehicle. It's
house carpet, not automotive carpeting. Really, save your money and get a
proper kit for the Spitfire. It's far, far, easier and better.
