Like Joe said, velocity stacks can work, but often times do not,
depending on design.

Dave Vizzard has some excellent articles on them in several of his
books.

Basically, as a rule of thumb, the more curved the velocity stack, the
better it flows. The more like a funnel, the worse it performs. True
funnel stacks will perform worse then no stack at all.

Can anyone else vouch for the claims made by this website that
velocity
stacks make a big difference?

I've been tempted by the stub stacks (same thing right?) that K&N make
for
their filters - but at 20 pounds for 2 little pieces of metal I always
thought they were a bit pricey.
