Hi Mark

One thing you might try to complete the miracle is Marvel Mystery Oil.  I 
believe the mixture is 4oz to 10gal of gas.  It will help clean the fuel 
system as well as lubricate and clean the upper end of the engine (valves 
etc.).

Also if you would like to use the best lubricating oils for your classic, 
let me have your mailing address and I will send you a Penrite brochure 
packet with a Penrite Lubrication Recommendation Sheet for your Spitfire.

If anyone is in the market I have a 1978 Spitfire 1500 in great shape for 
sale.  Give me a call.
