it just screws into the caliper housing at a right angle. However , the
replacement hose has a banjo type fitting on one end requiring a different
method of attachment. Can I just get a banjo bolt and use my new hoses? What
type of end do other folks have?

I have banjo fittings on all of my disc brakes, and have never seen different.
I have also gone thru 35 or 36 Spridgets in the past 26 years.
Maybe someone did away with the banjo fittings and just screwed in a male
fitting right to the caliper.
Maybe you have Girling (factory) disc brakes on your bugeye. I have never seen
the factory optional setup.
