Hi

My newly acquired Sprite's (circa 1964?) tacho doesn't work. The previous
owner doesn't remember when it last did!

It is the electronic type, and the car is still wired as a positive earth.

I haven't been able to pull the thing out of the non standard dash yet, but
looking underneath I can see the following...

1. Wires and a bulb for the ignition light - this works fine

2. Wires at the very top which I assume to be to illumination for the dial
- I THINK that works.

3. Three wires joined onto a screw connector

and

4. A green wire connecting to a spade connector.

I would like to test the gauge "in situ" if possible. If I run a wire from
the green wire connector to the coil, might this do the trick? If so,
which side of the coil do I connect to?

If that doesnt work, (or is a dumb thing to do), any suggestions?

Thanks in anticipation.

Greg
