Just a thought here, and this happened to one of my cars out at Sprite Rush.
The gas cap vent rusted closed. When I opened the gas cap it burped and the car
started and ran fine. I cleaned off the rust inside the cap (I still haven't
replaced it) and it has been fine, no more burps when I open the cap.
It's worth a try.
