Look at the back of your generator. The body will be threaded to accept a small 
gearbox which in turn is threaded to accept a tachometer cable.

If you do not have a tach-drive generator, it is simply a matter of purchasing 
one and a tach-drive gearbox and cable.

In the US, the cost of these items may total anywhere from $100.00 to $300.00 
depending upon condition. 

Many owners claim that the tach-drives are unreliable. I, personally, have 
never had a problem with them and neither have two friends who have run cars 
with them. This covers a period of 20+ years. (That should generate some 
mail/No pun intended)
