I have had some requests to give some more details on the car..bear in mind I
am its 3rd owner in its race prepped form so I dont have all the details but
here is what I know...First order was a severe diet...car has weighed in at
just over 900lbs on a truck scale...weighs more now as I have added the
windsheild, a steel hood in place of the fiberglass and some other items to
bring the weight a little closer to DP rules. Interior consists of one very
uncomfotable but TIGHT fiberglass racing bucket designed for circle track
use...you need a shoehorn to get in and out but it will keep you in place even
without the 5 point harness. No name aftermarket steering wheel with my own
handy trick for making a race wheel that has been chewed up look good
again...bicycle handlebar wrap...looks great...lots of colors to choose and
padded. Dash is just a small metal plate with oil press, water temp and tach,
power switch and starter button. Has been converted to tube shocks all around
and lowered severly (literally 2 1/2 inches of ground clearance) Speaking of
ground clearance not shown in the picture is the custom exhaust my neighbor is
fabricating...it will be a sidepipe since anything we have run under the car
gets squished eventually. He is toying with the Idea of using copper tubing
down the side...says the resonance is awsome and it will polish up
nice...anyone ever seen anything like that? Whatever tubing it will pretty
much be a straigt pipe with either my supertrapp (if it can be salvaged after
being under the car, or just a nice Monza resonator tip. Modified rear springs
which actually bend inward to clear the tires (god I hope I never break one,
no Idea where to get another) Hardened rear axles drilled out for larger studs
(thats how we know they are hardened 6 carbide drill bits later) Limited slip
rear diff. Headlights duct fresh air to motor front markers duct to custom
fabricated brake cooling ducts. Wheels as previously mentioned are 13x6
Centerlines with 6" Hoosier Racing slicks (also have a nice set of Goodyear
rain slicks mounted on 13x Vega rims) Tip for those who like to
autocross...get in tight with someone who races Formula cars in SCCA. The
front tires are 13x6 (rears are 13x10 and can fit but are VERY tight) and when
they are not useable for roadcourse anymore they have about a seasons worth of
autocross left in them. Dual 1qt remote oil filters (in passenger side
footwell) VW Rabbit radiator (nice fit good cooling) Trans is stock ribcase.
Currently running a stock 1275 with a weber 45 DCOE, Mallory dual point
distrubutor and accel coil. This is temp as I am building its permanant motor
which currently is going like this. 1275 bored .40 over balanced rods and
pistons, 9.5 compression pistons (unless someone happens to have a .40 over
Venolia they would like to donate...I have 3...4th one is chowed) Isky cam
(sorry dont remember the specs right now Thanks Frank C. :) Isky springs,
retainers and pushrods (might as well keep it all happy) Happily taking
donations for Roller Rockers otherwise barring a winning lottery ticket or
large insurance settlement will be using stock rockers. Again the 45 DCOE
will be used as well as the Mallory Dual point. And a 3 angle valve job on
the head. Oh, car also has lightened aluminum flywheel. Now keeping in mind
my current total invesment (including purchase of the car) has been under
$1700 and total expected budget when the motor is finished should not exceed
$2300 You will see that when we say "we tight" it doesnt mean we cant have fun
:) I do have to thank those listers who have provided parts cheap or free
especially Frank C. and Ed (dangit, can never remember his last name but his
email is Lotus7ed@aol.com has lots of good spridget parts for sale if anyone
needs them)

Well thats all for now....keep em shiney side up and if you are ever in NJ
catch up with me on race day and you can take a turn at the wheel :)

Jim T.
