Just made it home last night as the darkness came. Alternator light
blazing red. Battery totally dead when I pulled into the garage.

Time for a new alternator? Can the internal voltage regulator be
rebuilt? I think it is the voltage regulator because of the way it
failed. First it would only glow red at over 3500 (for about 40
miles) then it started flashing at abour .5 second intervals. ( for
about 10 miles) then it went solid red (for about 10 miles.

I was pleased the the MSD ignition ran until I shut it off. The
voltage was so low that the radio wouldn't even work!

If it can't be rebuilt what was the conversion for the Japanese
part? ( I may have a spare lucas one rolling around..gotta go dig
in the parts boxes!!)
