I had my car painted by an ex-macco (?) shop. They have many different levels
of painting to choose from. The very cheapest was about 200 bucks. They
basically roll your car into the booth and spray it. Possibly they wash it
first and maybe scruff the underlying paint a bit. In order for them to even
remove old pinstripes, your paint job is going to increase in price upwards of
$500-$600, but even then it's highly unlikely. My paint job was $350 for the
initial priming/trimming and then another $375 for the final coat, with me
spending a month doing prep work including sanding and bondo, and there are
STILL little dings we missed. If I had paid somebody to do the work I did and
end up with the finish I got, this paint job would cost closer to $2000. The
only way to get a cheap good paint job is to do it, or at least most of it,
yourself. That's just my .02.
