Hi Paul,

The setup on your car was just fine originally as you bought it. 
Changing the polarity to neg ground does not mess up the generator.  You
merely re polarize the regulator and a couple of other minor things. 
Generators just die as other parts do.

You can get yours rebuilt at nearly all decent size cities that have a
generator/alternator rebuild shop.  They are also readily available from
all Brit car suppliers.  You can also get one from NAPA that carries a
decent guarantee.

Don't despair, this is a no brainer repair.  Soon your car will be as
reliable as a your wifes Honda again!!!!!!
