While a popular theory, that is not what happens.  Actually, the faster
you circulate the coolant, the more heat you remove from the radiator. But
fast flow can cause other problems.

The real reason not to remove the thermostat is that it upsets the flow
distribution in the head/engine, undercooling certain areas.

The underlying truth remains:  don't remove it.
