Like Terry, I just went through this as well and ended up with the 155s on
Minator wheels. Major reason - PRICE. Sears was offering 60,000 mile
Michelins with an advertised price of $27.99 for the 155/13 (probably
figuring no one uses 155/13s). I was going to go with the 165 but they were
$45 (on sale) for the same tire! Then the guy didn't want to sell me the
155s. He actually knew that the 145 was the correct tire for the car.
Price for the 145, $40. I said more money for the same tire in a smaller
size - yep, special order. I had the advertisement with me and said give me
the 155s, cash and carry. A friend mounted/balanced them and the look and
fit is great.

I went through this just last week, and ended up with a set of 155/80/13s
for my '77. I was concerned about stories of sizes over 165 rubbing (I
don't know 'bout that - looks like I could have gone at least this size,
but anything over that looks like they'd impead on the rear arches (oh, for
a RWA).
The 80s are nice and tall without being silly, and fill up the wheel wells
nicely. Width looks 'right' on the car too.

Hi All! I am finally getting down to the tires on my Midget....which is
good because that means I will be driving it soon. I have started to
look around and will probably get them from Tire Rack. The part I need
help with is the size. It has stock wire wheels and stock suspension. I
am not trying to go crazy with this- I just want a good all around tire.
The one that are on the car are 145/13's. I am guessing 175/ 60 or 70/
