  However, according to all the period road tests I have seen,
the 1500 outperformed the 1275 by a considerable margin. 

  Even in full emissions trim, it allowed the Midget to "top the 
ton" (do over 100mph), something the 1275 powered cars never did
in stock form, even pre-emissions.

  (most times you hear a lister yammer about how the 1275 is
the better engine, the sentence is followed by a discussion of
hop-up parts, go fast goodies, and so on. Valid advice, but if
you intend to stay relatively stock as most people do, take
it with a grain of salt)

  The 1275 is a nice engine, but the 1500 has lots going for
it. Personally I would prefer to see the car get a stock drivetrain
for it's year.
