There are at least two alternators rusting away outside. The guy says he
wants $45 a piece for them. I know M*$$ lists them at $155 with exchange,
but Im pretty sure you can still get them at AutoZone for $75 with
exchange. There is a place here in town that has them rebuilt in stock $70
with exchange. I just traded my newly-rebuilt ACR16 for a rusty tach-drive
generator. Dont know if it works. Are the guts for the tach drive type
(armature, field coil, brushes) and the later non-tach drive type
compatible? Was this a good trade? I couldnt resist the possibility of
actually having a working tach (and using that d@mn little gearbox).
