Stock 9/16" sway bar is better then none.
Heavy 7/8 sway bar is too big for street use.
I am currently running a 3/4" bar, I like it.

Used bars are fine as long as they are not rusted badly.
New links and "D" bushings regardless of used condition will be needed.
The only mods to the car are holes in the A arms (if not already there) for
the links.
