Chris,

Please check out this list for museums:

http://dir.yahoo.com/Regional/Countries/United_Kingdom/Recreation_and_Sports
/Automotive/History/Museums/

Some of the best museums I visited when I lived in England were in the South
and in the Midlands- I believe the best LBCs sites are in the Midlands, so
it will be a shame if you don't go south of Manchester... but you may have
done that on a previous visit!

...and for the circuits:

http://www.bmrc.co.uk/

I have been to Knockhill, Silverstone, Curborough, Oulton Park, Castle Combe
and Goodwood... Good memories... My old car club in England have their big
event each year at Donington Park each year... North of Manchester, I guess
you could check if there is anything going at Croft and Knockhill.

Enjoy your holiday planning!

Jacques le Clainche, who, after living the best part of 20 years in the
Midlands, has not been back to England for 11 years...but I am going this
summer!

Fellow listers,
Once again, the wife and I will be travelling from the US to England for a
too brief holiday in early November. In exchange for visiting numerous
drafty castles and such, I will be allowed to hit upon a few automobile
related venues. We will be landing at Manchester and generally heading
north
from there into Scotland until we return to Manchester for the flight home.

Can any of you fervid LBC'ers give me some good tips on automotive places to
visit? The last time we did this (2 years ago) a number of you including
Daniel 1312, Skip T, Guy W, Ian, and others had some great suggestions
(which
even the wife enjoyed-except for Frontline Spridgets in Bath, because I
bought a load of stuff for my Bugeye/Frogeye vintage racer). We are renting
a car, so are free to move about without regard to fixed itineraries. I
asked for a new MINI ( used to race a 970S and owned many street minis) but
the hire agent said none were yet available, or didn't know what they are!

Any tips on must see pubs, racetracks, or other cool stuff also appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris Gross
60 Bugeye Vintage racer and previous owner of many street and race Minis.
