"According to David Vizard, an engine putting out 100hp could pull from
1250
in 4th gear......"

This is true. Had a Vizard tuned 1311 with
11.0-1, VP3 cam, med. bore LCB
thru Cherry Bomb, Rimflow 1.4 intake and
1.215 exh. running 1.5.s, a Cooper "S"
23D4 (Crane equipped) & Weber 45DCOE
running 38mm chokes.

Chassis dynoed at 90hp @ the rear wheels and DID pull from 1200rpm,
though "came alive" at about 3200rpm
and would go to 7,000rpm. Engine was
blueprinted/balanced and a real street
screamer; great fun!

No problem as a street daily driver but
it did have a tendency to get "hot" in
heavy, slow moving traffic, even with a
vented hood. Could have used an alum.
rad. and head!

Judson equipped 1293 (8.0-1) with alum. head/rad., Cooper S cam, 1.5's,
Datsun
5 spd., coated med. bore LCB/1.75 RC40
should be even "torquier" (for the street)
without exceeding 5,000rpm. We'll see!
