Guy,  I only meant that I use the hand brake as an indicator of 
misadjustment. I wasn't clear, sorry. (btw, spellchecker says I should use 
maladjusted instead. Not sure shoes can be maladjusted, but the head often is.)
         Chase the bearing runout, that might be it.
