Jac,

I have owned various used motorhomes over the last 20 years. A lot of the
answers to your questions depend on $$. My present motorhome is the best I
have had and is very adequate for towing a 20' enclosed, dual axle with
electric brakes trailer. I have towed my 3,400# 96 Corvette in it and now my
72 Midget race car. With motorhomes you need to decide if you're going to be
in a hurry to get where you are going or are you going to enjoy the trip.
With mine, I accelerate slowly, cruise @ 65 and stop in anticipation. It is
capable of doing better, but I will save those moments for emergencies.

1996 Coachman Leprechaun, 460 gasoline Ford, automatic, 29'(longer than
30'is harder to maneuver), no slide outs, Class C (I like to be able to see
the engine without removing a tunnel cover). A Class C is easily serviced
by any mechanic and parts are easier to buy and match.

Different makes have different quality materials just like cars. So just
like a car - research, research, research. Since this is you first one, I
would definitely buy it from a reputable dealer. Motorhomes are like boats,
lots of stuff to go wrong. Oh, I paid in the mid 20's for mine 2 years ago
and it had 24,000 miles. Running very good so far !!
Hope this helps a little.

Spridgeteers,

Anybody on the list in the RV business? Or an experience RVer?.. I wonder if
now would be a good time to buy an RV? I am toying with the idea of
purchasing an "A" class... Questions...

1. Ideal length/engine for an RV capable to tow 3,000 pounds + of trailer,
car, spare wheels, tools, etc... and have space for four large dogs
inside!... Best with a diesel engine, right?

2. Are there any makes better than others, or/and are there variations in
quality between models?

3. Would a model with "slides" keep it value better or worse than a "non
slider"?

4. Best transmission? I assume they will all be automatic.

5. Extended warrantee desirable?

6. Best value - new or used?

7. How best negotiate the price? Is there a big mark up when new, or are the
dealers working with thin margins?

I never had an RV- and only drove a C class once... so any advice will be
welcome. Please feel free to take this off-list due to the non-Sprite
subject 8-)
