If you need to go thicker gasket for lower CR, try Mordy Dunst. Name of his
biz is gasketworks. I'm sure you can find him via Google. He makes solid
copper gaskets.

Subject: Head Gasket question

Hi Listers:

Time once again to get some insight from the list. I finally got the
supercharger on the sprite and took a test run the other night. Not running
right yet, probably still too lean under boost. Then I really started
losing
power and looked at my temp gauge. It was way to the high side, so I backed
off on the gas pedal to let it cool down. at the next stop the engine died.
when I restarted, it blew a big white cloud out the exhaust. I'm sure I
blew
the head gasket - hopefully that is all. Not sure if the heat contributed
to
the blown gasket or was the result of the gasket blowing first. My
questions
are:

1) For this application do you recommend the stock or the competition head
gasket? I'm guessing the competition one is stronger, but it has oversize
holes leaving less material between the holes, so possibly easier to blow
again.
2) I've heard of putting in 2 gaskets to reduce the compression ratio, which
might be a good thing with the supercharger - reduce possibility of
detonation, etc. Any thoughts on this?
3) Since i've never had the head off this engine - bought it "rebuilt" from
a
private individual, What all should I have done when I get it off?

Thanks
