I think we were talking of the origins of the terms, not a litteral
definition.
A typical Coupe in the UK would ave 2 doors, and be similar in design to
its 4 - door counterpart, but with a sloping roofline giving pretty minimal
headroom to adults in the rear seats. The Coupe refered to the style of the
roofline, rather than the doors.
I bet they all refer to styles of bodywork on horse-drawn carriages of one
short or another.
