"Lots of hair on the guys that crewed
those beasts"

Yep, agreed...

sends shivers down the spine of "those
who know"!! As Chuck said, the sight,
the sounds, the smell (albeit less the
smell of burning high octane avgas!).

Unimagineable "feelings" for the guy
who "was there" and completed his 25,
for sure....

I'd loved to have been a fly on the wall
in the inside of his mind at that moment
as he watched these "heavies" taxi in,
with respect to the memories conjured up therein....not all of them,
most likely, of
course. Whether they "enlisted" and were
there voluntarily or not....my admiration
knows no bounds. "Hair" is right.

You do things when you are young that
make you shudder at an older age.....it's
almost as though you were looking at
another guy as you look backward in
time from "within".

I knew a lot of ex-Corsair and WW2
aviator types as I grew up in the biz
that wouldn't talk about those days. One
guy commented..."another guy in another
time". I didn't understand what meant
back then.....however, I do, today.
