Yep...turboprops can move a lot of air
at low speeds....very "torquey" and
extremely responsive with excellent
thrust to weight characteristics in combo
with a high lift airfoil with supplemental
"secondary" airfoil assist

Just look at what the Russians did with
their Bears, Bisons and Badgers, combining swept wing technology with
compound turboprops. And their structures as sized in accordance with
ours were much heavier. Excellent fuel
efficiency as well for the time.
