Goodmorning Cap'n!
Those were the extremes of temperatures that I have experienced where I live
in the UK. Strictly speaking, not at the house I am currently in, but I
used to live about 80 miles from here, in a remote cottage in the hills of
Northumberland. Up in the Scottish Borders.
That's about 280 miles north of London and a very, very different world.
Friends from "over there" are always amazed at the variation in the UK over
short distances!
The temperature extremes were all recorded on a max/min thermometer actualy
on the back wall of the cottage over a period of years. That coldest one
night in 1979 and the hotest in the summer 1981. They really were the
extremes. Much more "normal" temperatures range between 20F and 75Faround
here. I also think that the weather is generally milder; less hot and less
cold, these days than it used to be.
