Josh,
I'm curious. Why is it that you want to do the entire floor pan, including
the trans/driveshaft tunnel? I don't know about 1500s, but, in A-series
engined cars, the floor of the "tunnel" gets great protection against rust
from all of the oil that gets leaked and spread into every crevice. Of
course, if you have the car upside-down, I can see how it would be
convenient to just drill the spot welds on the tunnel flange and pop the
whole works out. Hmmm. Actually, it WOULD be nice to have one of the later
tunnel bottoms, with an access hole for EACH u-joint, on an earlier car.
And, no doubt about it, I'd much rather do MIG plug (spot) welds than weld
two very long butt joints, even if they could be welded "downhand", right to
left.
I'd say your best bet is to get ahold of one of the Heritage suppliers in
England. I'm sure they could get you one and ship it "over here". Might be
a bit pricey, but, just think of the butt welding you'd avoid having to do.

Yeah, I know. Some of you guys would lap the new panel over the remaining
edge of the old one (very crude). Whatever floats your boat. It's your
name on the title. However, my marine repair/construction upbringing won't
allow me to use a lap seam unless the factory did, in that particular spot.
If there was no seam, originally: a butt seam is (to me) the only acceptable
way to replace a rusted part of a panel. We call it an "insert".

Let us know if you find a source for the complete floor, OK? I've got 3
Midgets that will be getting floor pan replacement as part of their
restoration.

getting the old floor cut/drilled out. Cant seem to find a whole floor
replacement? I dont want to do two halfs. Anyone know where I can find one?
Moss/vb only had half floors for later cars, I tried Kilmartin Sheetmetal
but no luck for sprite panels. Any thoughts? Thanks-Josh
