A little digging reveals this history (FWIW) -
1972 - Loctite buys Permatex (not the other way around)
1999 - Loctite is bought by Henkel (a German company)
1999 - Permatex is spun off to become a separate company again
Permatex and Loctite both still market thread lock products.
