I am ashamed of you Cap'n Bob, you compare apples and oranges. Sure the 74
has roll up windows and drop top, but I can think of hundreds of car that
fit that bill and most are better than a Midget. Nothing drives like a 948
bug-I in the curvies if you know what you are doing and that is what makes
it special. You guys with the 1275's and 5-speeds lose sight of this as you
have done everything you can to make your bug-I just another "cute" car. If
you have never driven a stock bug-I on a mountain road, you probably can't
understand what I am talking about. It is your loss. If "practical daily
driver" is what you are looking for get a Chevy or a Ford.

Absolutely....

as practical daily drivers you cannot beat
the roll-up window, fold down top
"convertible" Spridgets, which in this context wins hands down over the
BE
"roadster".

Commuting down to my "office" at LGA
or JFK (parking, etc.) in the BE would have been a real PITA weatherwise
for sure considering it's removeable/storable top and sidescreens, while
the later '74
Midget "convertible" was a no sweat deal
all-around.
