auction numbers:
4507022282 & 4507021515 are the exact darn set i was given by an old
friend for my bugeye.
while looking way cool in a period acessory kinda way, they are not as cool
as they look! the aluminum bell is crimped to the diecast base or flange
and after about ooooh, 30 seconds or less they vibrate loose and the stacks
spin in the base. that makes a nifty gray slime wich migrates out of the
seam where the stack meets the base. i have removed mine twice so far and
re-peened them , tried staking them in place and yet in short order they
come loose again.(i've been avoiding epoxy or other adhesives as i do not
want it migrating into the carbs!) (kinda understand why they were given
away) while they are period performance pieces beware of their eventual
short comings if you are "investing" in them.
