What you found are period aftermarket mats. They were 8 piece sets with 
2 rubber mats per side, 1 fore and 1 aft of the frame member under the 
seats and 2 aluminum pieces per side to cover that frame member and the 
frame member on the side of the forward part of the transmission tunnel.

Factory floormats covered the entire area described above with a 
one-piece rubber mat or considerably thinner material. Factory mats had 
no logos.

I believe Horler's book has pictures of the original factory mats.

Actually there is a vendor on ebay from Maine that has a considerable 
stock of the mats you describe in black.
