I mean WW1 pilots flew by "feel" and only
visually at that. By WW2 we had instruments that allowed us to fly without
visual reference.
Take yesterday's
best "hands on" pilot
and equip him with modern "tools" and
his skills will be such that today's best is "surgical" as opposed yesterday's
best
which by comparison, is "rough & dirty".
The important thing is "empirical" information in making comparisons. There
is no other way Don Racine could possibly
know an "aluminum head right out of the
box flows as well as a Longman GT3".
And he's not doing himself any favors here
as he sells both for about the same price.
