Yep...I used to be quite the "boy racer",
Ron! I was really into this stuff.

90HP+ at the wheels. Done on Paul Newman's (D&M Engineering, Brookfield, CT)
chassis dyno (boy...that was many moons ago!:). His #33 Datsun was in the
shop at the time undergoing some work.

Knew his machinist from the Danbury shop...guy by the name of Jason. This is
how I "found" the dyno.

This Vizardized '74 RWA was my "nice day"
airport commuter for many years...loved
this car. Otherwise, a GEX 1600 "tuned"
VW Beetle for inclement wx days.

3.9 (later, a 3.7) at the time with 4 speed ribcase but......
ran on a 100+RON mix of CAM2 and unleaded (93PON). 1.5RR's, 45DCOE, big
valves, CHT-11 header into 2" system, Cherry Bomb with ANSA Tip, Crane 3000,
CHT-2266 ST mech. dizzy....the works, really.

On one particular morning, "cruised" from
Stamford to Bridgeport Airport at 0430
at a "no sweat" 5-5.5k...made the normally 25-30 min trip in less than 20 min.
Bear in mind this was many, many years ago when there was VERY little traffic
on RT95 at that hour.

The DCOE had 38mm chokes and the motor
could use every mm. Went to 7k with no
problem. Finally swallowed an exhaust valve
(at idle...at a stoplight in town, no less!) at a little over 80K. Great
engine! I was gonna
try 40mm chokes but it ran so well on the
38's, I decided to leave well enough alone.

Dry, beautiful spring morning....but I was late and could get fired for not
being there...new Captain on "probation" at the time.

Hell with the cops....I was gettin' there on
time if it killed me. I made it. Probably could've done the trip a little
faster with
a 5 speed. :)
