After over a year in the "dungeon" I finally managed to get my Sprite back
on the road and drive it around the neighborhood.
I had started it for the first time after the engine rebuild a couple of
months ago, and ran it for 20-25 minutes. While driving, I noticed that it
is definitely burning some oil (blue smoke).
I drove a total of probably 7 or 8 miles, and when I returned, I pulled the
plugs and did a compression check. The 1 & 2 plugs looked fairly clean, but
3 and 4 were a little sooty - It was a dry soot and looked more like a rich
mixture than oil. The compression test yielded:
 1-160 psi
 2-165 psi
 3-165 psi
 4-160 psi
Anyone have any theories on what the likely cause of the oil burning is? Is
it possible that the rings haven't seated properly? The car has a 1275
engine.
Thanks in advance for any and all info/suggestions.
