Does the heater blow warm air?  Did you replace the thermostat?  Fan
blows air into the wheel arch?

An incorrectly timed cam can cause hot running.  Incorrectly adjusted
valves are another possible cause.

If you haven't already post this over on the Mini Mania message board.
Might even be a Mini person in your area who would take a look at it.
