Hi Jim,

If you find a good slip yoke with the shroud on it, just remove it. It's
about that simple.

Now, back to one thing you want to do. Replacing the rear trans bushing. The
new one will be too big for any slip yoke after you press in the bushing. It
will have to be opened up some to fit the yoke. And as you already know, it's
really made out of unobtanium.

What I've been doing for customers is give your shot yoke and the rear part of
the trans with a new bushing in it to my machinist. He smoothes up the yoke
and now opens up the new bushing with his milling machine to fit the yoke.
He's got a jig for that. Now you have a great fit there, but that yoke is now
"Transmission specific". You've lost all interchangeability with junk yard
driveshafts. OTOH, with a magnetic drain plug in your gearbox, it will likely
last another 40 years or so. You may have a handicap sticker by then and a
lift to drop you into and take you out of the car, so car useage might be a
lot lower by then!!

Subject: [midgetsprite] Needing front portion of drive shaft for later model
1275...

Well, I have so far been unable to locate the front portion of the
drive shaft for a 1275. THis is the later model without the collar.
Does anyone out there have one in useable condition they would sell?
Failing that, how about an entire drive shaft with good U-Joints in
  it....???

  Please contact me off list....
