for the first time in about a year and a half i took my bugeye out for a ride
today. 4 tires with about 5lbs in each one , dead battery(it needs a new one)
, starter bendix kicking out almost evry time it almost started , checked
fluids , warmed it up , and took my son for about a 5 mile "let's see what it
will do on the new bypass stretch" nearby! i forgot how darn fast it was!
i never did see the top end of fourth! ran out of bypass & i chickened!
but my son thought that was about the coolest thing in a very long time. he
likes watching other people notice the car and stare at it. he thinks that is
funny. what a hoot! it took about a mile to warm up the old comp T/A R1's ,
they were flat spotted from sitting so long.
now to get a replacement starter bendix , replace the rear carb jet(leaking
atthe float bowl only on full choke) , a new battery . then wash it up and
take it out to where i have my storage , cover it up and await spring or an
inspiring warm (and dry!) winter day. ;)
