Mark,
I recently had occasion to discover that the taillights on the right side of
the car and the taillights on the left side of the car are completely
different circuits. If you ever wondered about the two fuses with the red
wires, that is the answer... one is the right and the other is the left. If
the front lights are working on both sides, it is not the fuse, it would
then be likely to be a bullet connector sleeve by the RH windshield post by
the glovebox.

No brake lights is likely to be the brakelight switch, which is mounted on
the front of the pedalbox in the engine compartment. There is a little tip
on it which is supposed to pop out as the top of the brake pedal moves away
from it. Usually, you can spray some silicone lube at it and patiently push
it in over and over until it starts moving normally again. As you might
expect, the new ones are not as good, so try to fix this one rather than
replacing it. To remove it (if you so choose, not really necessary) you
pretty much have to undo the screws holding the pedalbox in. Also, the
distance that it is threaded in is critical; not far enough and the
brakelights stay on (BTW, they only work with the key on, but you knew
that...), too far in and the brakeline pressure does not release.
