[Spridgets] Lucas side entry cap

I received my distributer from Advanced today, and I am getting it
ready to put on the block. I have several Lucas caps and I wanted to
see if anyone can tell me what color they were. It appears that the
two that I have in my bin were orginally black, put there is traces of
a brown patina on about half of the cap. Were these damn things
painted in the factory?
