i just did some goole earth mapping to Lake of the Ozarks..
from trenton NJ, about 1000 miles
from Miami Fl, about 1300 miles
from Houston TX .. about 600
from St Paul Mn about 600
From San Diego CA, 1700.
from KELSO, WA over 2000
! .. .. while taking the back roads
and byways IS the most romantic adventuresome way of getting
there, taking such a route for those of us on the left coast
is just not reasonable in a time frame restricted state. (for
those who are RETIRED .. fine.,..do it, take the road less
travelled). some of us don't have 6 weeks it would take to do
such a trip. ... look at it this way.. we have to do the
distance from say Milwaukee WI to the destination EVERY DAY
for FOUR DAYS. .. . and thats just getting there!
