As far as I have determined the 948 didn't have a plastic tube as the oil
stick fits pretty snug in the block hole and it rests on the bottom of the
pan.  The 1275 has a bell mouth plastic tube in it and the dipstick also has
a flat washer attached to the dipstick that rests on the top of the plastic
tube.

It's supposed to have a really stupid plastic tube to hold the dipstick.
That's what those chunks in your oil were.
