I like Diesels, though the new ones get terrible mileage compared to
the ones from a few years ago.

Also, check out the Tundras.  I'm a Ford guy but I would look hard at
the Duramax, Cummins, and then the Ford offerings.

My buddy had a E-350 van with the big Diesel motor.  It got 20MPG
regularly and high teens towing an 18' trailer loaded.

Look into Tekonsha brake controllers, too, they are great.
