Unfortunately it can be even worse.  I stopped by a carburetor shop that my 
dad's shop uses (Marine engines) the other day to chat with the owner about 
the carb on my old motor home.  We of course stated talking about other 
things and got on to the subject of ethanol.  He pulled out a float bowl 
form a fairly new Holley where the coating on the inside had been eaten away 
and the metal was corroding.  All due to the ethanol in the fuel.  This is 
not solid data, but if this guy tells me it's from ethanol I believe him. 
Carbs are this guys thing and he's been doing it for 35 years.
