Try downloading it from here
http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/
instead of their 'normal' download method.
Alternatively I highly recommend using Foxit PDF Reader instead of
Adobe Reader - it's considerably faster opening and navigating most
larger, graphics laden PDF files especially on slower, older PCs.
